Frequently Asked Questions about Your Advertising Opportunities
If you're new to promoting your website through banner ads, you probably have some questions. These are the ones people usually ask first.
Where do the banners display?
The banners will be displayed on a large assortment of websites.
Some of which include:
http://www.freehomepages.com/
http://www.tadpolls.com/
http://www.searchit.com/
http://www.gameroom.com/
plus many more.
Top of page banners are shown only on pages which are controlled be the site
owners and have been approved by us.
Bottom of page banners are shown only on user pages of the freehomepages.com
network, which the content of these pages are not controlled.
How does banner advertising work?
We display your banner ad on our network where it can be seen by our visitors. If
someone is interested in your product or service, they click on the banner and are
transferred automatically to your site where you can tell them more, and hopefully, get
them to make a purchase. We sell you advertising space on our network on the basis of how
many times your banner is seen, a measurement called CPM.
What does CPM mean?
CPM refers to "cost per thousand" and is used by the advertising
industry to describe how many people have viewed the banner ad ("page views"
they call it), or received an "impression" by seeing the ad.
What does "click-through" mean?
When someone is interested in your banner ad, they click on it, and are
transported to your website. Every time someone clicks on your banner, it is called a "click-through,"
and the "click-through rate" is expressed either in per cent or clicks
per thousand.
How do you decide where my banner shows up?
Your banner appears randomly throughout the network.
How do I know if my banner is being shown?
Our stats program will keep track of the times your banner was viewed along the number
of click-throughs. We can either serve the banner from our web servers or you can serve
them from your own. If you choose to serve the banner(s) from your own web server,
your server logs will keep track of every time the banner is shown and to which i.p.
address it was shown to. We strongly discourage going to one of the web sites on our
network and repeatedly clicking reload in hopes of seeing your banner. This only wastes
impressions, including your own.
How much traffic do you receive?
Our network reaches over 8 million people worldwide every month.
How can I find out how well my banner is working?
We keep track of the times your banner was viewed, the number of
click-throughs, and the click through rate, and make them available to you
"real-time" on our site anytime during the month, using an account name and a
password. We recommend you start with two banners to see which has the better
"click-through rate".
What kind of click-through rate should I expect?
You can expect a 1% to 3% click-through rate, or higher if your banner is very
compelling. It all depends on your banner's message and catchiness. We often see banners
that run at 5% and sometimes as high as 7 to 10%.
What size banner can I use?
We use the standard size: 468 pixels wide by 60 pixels high. It is best to keep
your banner file size below 12K, so the customer sees it quickly.
What do you charge to prepare a banner for us?
We charge $24.95 per banner if you already have the concept with some simple
animation of text, etc. If you want someone to develop the concept for you and produce the
banner, expect to pay $50 - $100.
What's the next step?
Why don't you begin by purchasing 10,000 or 20,000 banner impressions on our
network and see how it works for you. You can e-mail
us or pick up the phone and call us at 1-(212)-655-9353 , Monday through Friday, 10
am to 7 pm Eastern Time. We look forward to helping you make your business a success.
